Joe and Kris Sokol’s journey began years ago while on vacation in the UP of Michigan and staying in a timber framed cottage with Tongue and grooved walls. The warmth of the wood and the relaxing mood of the cottage was overwhelming. After attending Hochstetler Log Homes Log Cabin Days, the plan started to take shape. They wanted a large, open concept great room, two bedrooms with vaulted, timber ceiling, and a covered front porch extending the full length of the house. And, no drywall anywhere! They have a large custom bookcase of mahogany, kitchen cabinets of Hickory. The main entrance with it stone steps, timbered gable, and custom double doors is particular impressive.
The land outside is put to good use with a fenced – in garden, a chicken coop, and a stocked pond (perfect for the grandkids).
