Lancaster County Timber Frames, Inc. is a small company – that is how we prefer to keep things. We would much rather focus on quality and attention to detail than on how fast we can crank out timber frames. The folks you speak with here are the same ones that will design, carve and erect your timber frame. We employ craftsmen, not machine operators. At Lancaster County Timber Frames, timbers are not manufactured, they are carved. Your frame does not have to be designed according to what a machine can or cannot do – it can be designed to satisfy your desire for form, grace, harmony, and structural integrity. Whether you send us a complete set of architectural drawings or a napkin sketch, we would love to talk with you about your plans for a new home or mountain getaway, a restaurant, vineyard or retail store, a barn, or even a porch or pergola. Whatever your ideas, we’ll work to develop a design that is tailored to your needs and desires, and, most importantly, your budget. You will not have to settle for a stock design or a cookie cutter pre-cut frame – every one of our timber frames is unique and lovingly crafted, with the impeccable attention to detail that makes the frame uniquely yours. We’ve designed and built over 650 custom timber frames in twenty-five states, from Nantucket to Florida to New Mexico.
While we prefer to craft our frames from Douglas Fir, you can choose from a wide range of timber species, such as White Oak. Many of our projects have been carved from reclaimed or hand-hewn timbers. Regardless of the look and feel you desire; we have probably done it – more than once.
Before the first shovel of dirt is moved, we will work with your team to collaborate. We can simplify your contractor’s job by installing a built-up roof and structural insulated panel walls of either polystyrene or urethane, so you can count on a high measure of energy efficiency. And although we’re a small company, our shop is not. Until they are carved and shipped to your job-site, your timbers will not have to sit outside in the elements. We can set all the timbers for a 10,000 square foot house on sawhorses in our shop, and you and your contractor can count on us getting to the job-site when we say we will and working with you to get everything just the way you want it.
